Hatters Slide to 10th On 2nd Day of Championship

BRASELTON, Ga. – The Stetson University men’s golf team continued to struggle with chilly and windy conditions at the Atlantic Sun Championship on Monday.

The Hatters followed Sunday’s round of 309 with a 321 on Monday to slide from seventh place to 10th.

Only one team, Kennesaw State, broke 300 on the second day of play. The Owls posted a 293 to move to within one shot of North Florida (301) for the tournament lead. The Ospreys have a combined score of 14-over par 590 while KSU is second at 591.

No other teams are within 10 shots of the team lead entering Tuesday’s final round of competition.

For the Hatters, freshman Dustin Dingus matched his opening round score of 78. He is 12-over par for the tournament and tied for 22nd overall. Fellow freshman Andrew Peterson followed his Sunday score of 76 with a 79 on Monday and is tied for 19th heading into Tuesday’s final round of play.

Junior Tyler White posted an 83 on Monday and is tied for 40th with a two-day score of 162. Sophomore Matt Taylor improved by two shots on Monday, posting an 81, and is tied for 43rd at 164. Freshman Michael Primavera had the roughest round on Monday, posting a 90 after Sunday’s 76. He is tied for 48th going into the final round of play.

Kennesaw State’s Austin Vick holds a three-shot lead going into the final round on Tuesday. He posted an even par round of 72 on Monday and is one-under par for the tournament.

North Florida’s Kevin Phelan (71-75=146) is alone in second place with a trio of players one shot further back, tied for third.

Only one player, Kennesaw State’s Jimmy Beck, was able to break par in the second round of the tournament. He posted a one-under par 71 on Monday.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with tee times scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
