The Stetson men’s basketball family continued to grow on Friday when head coach Corey Williams announced the addition of transfer Cameron Harvey to the squad for the 2013-14 season.

Harvey, who played at Eastern Illinois in 2012-13 as a freshman, will sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA Division I transfer rules. While with the Panthers, the 6-3 guard played in 31 games off the bench, scoring 59 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out 15 assists.

“Cam will certainly add to our program,” Williams said. “He’s a wing that has size, has ability, so we’re very fortunate to get him on our team. I think he’s going to add a lot to our group of guards, and he’s going to make us stronger as a basketball team.”

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Harvey attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois for three years before transferring to Wheaton Academy in Chicago for his senior season. He helped both teams to winning records during all four years of his career.

Harvey averaged 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game in his final season at St. Joseph. As a senior, he was named Illinois Basketball Coaches Association fourth team All-State after averaging 16.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game at Wheaton Academy.

He joins a large group of newcomers on the Stetson squad this season. The Hatters will look to build on last year’s campaign, which ended with the program’s first trip to the Atlantic Sun Conference Semifinals since 2005-06.
