Women's Tennis Plays in Saturday Competition at Bedford

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A consolation match-up between two freshmen highlighted the Stetson women's tennis team's Saturday of competition at the Bedford Cup.

Freshmen Brittany Hill and Marta Gonzalez faced off in the quarterfinals of consolation play.  After splitting the first two sets Hill won the final set 6-4 to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.  She advances to the consolation semifinals on Sunday.

Senior MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell was the only other Hatter in singles competition on Saturday, but she lost to Sarah Means of Florida Gulf Coast by a score of 6-1, 7-5.

Stauffer-MacDowell and sophomore Andrea Crespo were the final Stetson duo left in the doubles tournament.  The pair lost to Botha/Sterkel of FGCU by a score of 8-7(3) in the quarterfinals.
