Stetson men’s soccer senior Andreas Schnabl added to his long list of accomplishments on Thursday as he earned Capital One Academic All-District honors. Voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the award recognizes those student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.
Schnabl, who has earned Atlantic Sun Conference Academic honors and Conference Scholar accolades multiple times already, becomes the fifth Stetson men’s soccer player to be named to the Academic All-District Team in the last five years. The Hatters have place student-athletes on the District 4 squad in each of the last three seasons.
Already the all-time leader in shutouts at Stetson with 15, Schnabl has led the Hatter defense by recording three shutouts thus far in the 2013 campaign. He has recorded a 1.55 goals-against-average this season, which keeps his career GAA mark of 1.27 as the best ever at Stetson.
Stetson is currently in fifth place in the A-Sun standings after back-to-back home victories over Mercer and Florida Gulf Coast. The Hatters continue the 2013 season on Saturday at North Florida.
