With less than a week until the regular season opener at Clemson, the Stetson men’s basketball team will take the floor for its final preseason rehearsal on Monday night. The Hatters host Palm Beach Atlantic in an exhibition contest at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

Stetson defeated Tampa by a score of 61-59 in its first exhibition of the season last weekend. The Hatters were led by junior Kentwan Smith’s 11 points and five rebounds, and redshirt freshman Brian Pegg’s 10 points and six boards.

“I think what they found out is how hard they have to play, their approach to the game, and anytime you play anybody they’re going to give you their best shot,” Head Coach Corey Williams said about the first exhibition. “We did some things well, but we also see that we need to improve and we have a long way to go.”

Palm Beach Atlantic plays in NCAA Division II and went just 1-24 last season. The Sailfish are under the direction of new head coach Dave Balza in 2013-14, who was at the helm of A-Sun foe Florida Gulf Coast for a decade earlier in his career.

“I want the effort to be there,” Williams said of Monday’s final exhibition. “I want them to play hard, play together, create offense off their defense, and find some ways to create offense for their teammates. If we do that it’s going to give us a shot in any basketball game.”

Monday night’s game, like every contest during Stetson’s regular season, will be aired on WSBB AM 1230 and WTJV AM 1490 beginning at 6:40 p.m. The game will also feature a live stream on HatterVision. Fans can keep up with the action by following the @StetsonMBB Twitter feed or signing up for Hat-Alerts. Admission to Monday’s contest will be free.
