The Stetson men’s basketball team hits the hardwood for the 10th time this season – still in search of its first victory – when the Hatters host cross-county rival Bethune-Cookman Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

Stetson, which nearly took out perennial NCAA Tournament team Davidson in the home-opener on Saturday, will be looking to avenge a 23-point loss to Bethune-Cookman a season ago. The Wildcats topped the Hatters 86-63 in Daytona Beach early on in the 2012-13 season.

The Hatters are coming off of two tightly contested games, falling by just seven points to UNCG in the final tilt at the Gulf Coast Showcase, and then scoring a season high 80 points in an 86-80 loss to Davidson at the Edmunds Center on Saturday.

Senior Willie Green almost willed the Hatters to victory on offense last time out, exploding for a career high 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. The forward also went a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, was 6-for-8 from the free throw line, and grabbed four rebounds.

Bethune-Cookman, meanwhile, comes to DeLand with an overall record of 2-7, but both victories have come against non-Division I schools Trinity Baptist and Trinity College. The Wildcats have lost their last five games, most recently falling to Northern Colorado 65-60 on Saturday.

Four B-CU players are scoring in double figures, led by Mikel Trapp, who is averaging 13.5 points per game on 22 three-pointers. Malik Jackson leads the Wildcats in rebounding with 5.0 per contest, and has added 10.1 points per game.

Stetson and Bethune-Cookman have played 25 times in the all-time series between the two schools with the Hatters coming out on top 19 times. The last eight meetings have alternated between Daytona Beach and DeLand with the home team winning each time. Overall, Stetson is 15-2 against Bethune-Cookman at home.

Tuesday’s game can be watched live on HatterVision, or listened to on WSBB AM 1230, WTJV AM 1490, and online at with Robbie Aaron on the call. Live Stats, the @StetsonMBB Twitter Feed, and Hat-Alerts are available for in-game updates.
