It has been a busy and challenging six weeks of basketball for the Stetson women's squad. The Hatters have spent 15 days on the road, playing seven of their first nine games in opposing arenas. Stetson has played a top-15 team (Oklahoma), a team receiving Top 25 votes (Florida State), and three other opponents who played in the postseason last year.

The Hatters have battled their way to a solid 5-4 mark through the difficult start, all the while gaining valuable experience for a young club that is playing together as a unit more-and-more with each passing game.

Stetson will now enjoy its first extended homestand of the season this week as the Hatters play three times in the next five days in the friendly confines of the Edmunds Center. The week kicks off with a 5 p.m. contest against Charlotte (4-5) Tuesday night in the front end of a Stetson basketball doubleheader. The men's squad will face Florida Atlantic at 7:30.

"We always love playing at home," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "It is going to be nice.  We have not had very many home games.  I know our players really appreciate that we have won on our home floor."

The Hatters are undefeated in their two home games this season, having defeated Indiana State 90-74 and Palm Beach Atlantic 93-48.  Junior wing player C.J. Coddington has had a great start in front of the home crowd, averging 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 59% (10-for-17) from the floor.

"It feels good to be back on our home court," Coddington said about the upcoming homestand.  "We hope for a good crowd (Tuesday) and we hope we can bring a lot of energy."

Stetson has had quite a bit of success at home over the past three seasons.  The Hatters have won 20 of their last 21 games at the Edmunds Center and 32 of their last 34.

Stetson will also be looking to add to its streak of 14 straight non-conference home victories against a strong 49ers squad that defeated the Hatters 81-73 last year in Charlotte.

Tickets range from $5-$10 and can be purchased online at or at the Edmunds Center ticket office. Stetson students, faculty, and staff are free with a valid ID.

Live video for Tuesday's game will be available on HatterVision, while WSBB will carry the audio broadcast on AM1230 New Smyrna Beach, AM1490 DeLand, and online at Live stats, the @StetsonWBB twitter feed, and Hat-Alerts will provide in-game updates as well.
