Coming off a strong second-half effort against Mercer on Thursday, the Stetson women's basketball team will seek its fourth win in a row on Saturday as the Hatters visit Kennesaw State at the KSU Convocation Center. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in game broadcast live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app for mobile devices.
Following Thursday's 72-60 win at Mercer, Stetson (11-5, 3-1 A-Sun) continues to lead the conference in scoring (77.9) and field goal pct. (.450), and three-point field goal pct. (.336). Five different Hatters scored in double figures against the Bears, marking the ninth time this season Stetson has accomplished that feat.
"That is usually when we are at our best," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said about the balanced scoring. "We have a lot of different people that can score and contribute, and it is hard (for opponents) to zone in on just one player."
The Hatters also played well defensively in the second half Thursday, holding Mercer to 27 points and 34% shooting. In addition, Stetson owned a 31-17 advantage on the boards in the final 20 minutes.
"In the first half, (Mercer's) field goal percentage was too high. They were almost 50% from the floor, and you just can't let them do that," Bria said. "I thought in the second half our defense was much more active, and we got their field goal percentage down."
Stetson has won nine straight games against Kennesaw State (4-12, 2-3) and leads the all-time series 14-3.
In addition to the ESPN3 broadcast, live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and the Hat-Alerts text messaging system will provide in-game updates.
