The Stetson women’s tennis team will take its rackets on the road for the second straight week as the Hatters visit Florida Atlantic on Friday. Stetson (3-1) has won three straight contests after dropping it’s first of the year to No. 24 Florida State in Tallahassee.
“At this point, the team is exactly where I expected them to be,” said Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote. “Each member of the team has made a commitment to our goals and the hard work necessary it takes to reach them.”
The Hatters defeated Embry-Riddle (6-3) last weekend in Daytona, winning three straight single matches following doubles play, to secure the victory.
Florida Atlantic enters the match at 1-2 overall and 0-1 against Conference USA opponents. The Owls host Youngstown State in Boca a day before taking on the Hatters. They last played, Feb. 14th vs. Iowa State, a meeting which the Cyclones won 6-1.
“The Owls will be a difficult challenge for us, as they have a young but very talented squad,” Pilote said. “Their two losses came against strong opponents and I am sure they will be ready for us Friday.”
FAU also dropped a match with Louisiana Tech (7-0) on Jan. 25. The Owls and Hatters last played in 2012, with Stetson coming out on top 5-2 in South Florida. Play between the two teams will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21 in Boca Raton.
