MACON, Ga. – Heavy rain in the central Georgia region has forced the cancellation of Stetson and Mercer’s series finale, Sunday. The softball game was originally scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at Sikes Field in Macon and there is no scheduled make-up date.
Both teams split a double header on Saturday, with Stetson taking Game 1, 6-1 and Mercer claiming Game 2, 5-4 in eight innings. Stetson stands at 15-5 on the year and 3-2 in the A-Sun, while Mercer has an identical 3-2 conference mark and is 18-10 overall.
The Hatters now lead the all-time series between the two schools 54-17 (.761), dating back to 1987. This was the final regular season meeting of the two teams as A-Sun opponents as Mercer will be leaving for the Southern Conference next season.
Stetson next takes the field Tuesday, March 18, with a non-conference doubleheader against Marist. Game 1 is set for 4 p.m. at Patricia Wilson Field, with Game 2 taking place at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Hatters then host Buffalo in a single game, Wednesday at 6 p.m., in DeLand.
