SPARTANBURG, SC – The Stetson men’s golf team will have one final chance to tune-up for the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Tournament this week when they play in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational.

The event will feature 15 teams at the Country Club of Spartanburg, a 6,648 yard, par 72 course. Play will open on Monday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. for the first 36 holes of competition. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.

Live scoring for the event will be available throughout the tournament at golfstat.com.

This will be the seventh time Stetson has played in this event over its 26-year history. The Hatters’ best finish was a fifth place in 2008.

If season rankings from GolfStat are any indication, the Hatters will have their hands full in this event. Stetson enters the event ranked 218th according to GolfStat. That ranking has the Hatters behind all but one of the other teams in the field.

TCU comes in as the favorites. The Horned Frogs are ranked 50th in the latest rankings. A-Sun foe USC Upstate will be a strong contender, ranking 82nd entering play this week.

This will be the second time the Hatters have crossed paths with the Spartans this year. The first time was in the Forest Hills Collegiate in Augusta when Upstate finished second, eight shots in front of Stetson.

Other teams in the field, with rankings, include Radford (93), Lamar (102), Wofford (110), James Madison (119), Elon (121), Presbyterian (127), Francis Marion (154), Appalachian State (161), Gardner-Webb (173), Western Carolina (194), Longwood (203) and High Point (234).

There are no players in the field ranked among the top 100 in the nation this year.

The Hatters will feature the same lineup they will send to the A-Sun Championship Tournament next week. That group will be led by sophomore Dustin Dingus, who comes in with the best scoring average on the team at 73.75. For the year, Dingus has posted nine of his 28 rounds in competition at par or better.

Dingus will be joined by freshman Dirk Kuehler (75.57), sophomore David Torres (75.73), freshman Zach Stark (76.00) and junior Matt Taylor (76.06).

The Hatters will play the first day with players from Francis Marion and Appalachian State. The Hatters will start on holes eight through 10.
