DeLand, Fla. – Stetson University women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria announced the signing Friday of Santa Clara University transfer Jo Paine (Oregon City, Ore.) to a Grant-in-Aid offer. The 6-0 forward will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Hatters beginning with the 2015-16 season.
"Jo brings more versatility and proven production to our program,” Bria said. “She had a great freshman season in the West Coast Conference playing against great competition. Jo has a very mature offensive game and can score from all levels along with being a tough rebounder. She will be an impact player for us and has three years in a Hatter uniform. We are very excited to have Jo come aboard."
Paine averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for the Broncos this past season and was selected to the West Coast Conference all-freshman team. She started all 30 games, leading the team in 3-point field goal shooting (37.5%) and tying for the team lead in 3-pointers (36). She also ranked second on the team in scoring and rebounding, while adding 38 assists and 16 steals.
Paine scored in double figures 18 times during the season, including a career-best 28 points at Pepperdine on Jan. 2. She also grabbed a season-best 14 rebounds in that contest.
The Oregon native played prep basketball for four years at Oregon City High School.
Paine joins Alexandra Ciabattoni (Newman University) as four-year college transfers who will be eligible for the 2015-16 season.
