DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, which the league released on Wednesday. Fresh-off an 18-win season in 2013, the Hatters received 27 points in the poll.
Sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Creamer (Newnan, Ga.) was voted to the preseason all-conference team. An Atlantic Sun all-freshman team honoree last season, Creamer averaged 2.89 kills and 1.31 digs per game as a rookie. Four times she was selected as the league's Freshman of the Week, and her 358 kills set a Stetson school-record for a freshman.
"Tiff has really grown from what I can tell and seeing her last year on film," first-year head coach Kristina Hernandez said. "She has really gained a lot of strength, power, and quickness. She is doing some great things offensively and creating different ways to score for herself. I am excited to see what she is going to do for us this year."
Lipscomb was projected to capture the A-Sun regular season title, earning 62 total points and six first place votes. Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast, Northern Kentucky, and North Florida ranked second through fifth. Kennesaw State tied Stetson for sixth and USC Upstate was picked eighth.
The Hatters (18-16, 9-9 in 2013) open the season on August 29 at the FAU Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla.
