Stetson men’s soccer opens the 2014 season this weekend when it faces Elon in the first game of the Duke/Nike Invitational, 5 p.m., Friday at Durham, N.C.

The Hatters will square off with national power and host team Duke, 2:30 p.m., Sunday.

These are the first game for Stetson under first-year head coach Ernie Yarborough. The Hatters split a pair of exhibition games, defeating Florida Southern, 4-1, while suffering a 1-0 loss at the hands of Florida Tech.

Stetson fans will be able to watch both games on-line via HatterVision, or follow the action with the live stats game viewer. Fans can also follow the Hatters the team’s Twitter feed @StetsonMSoccer.

Game Notes
•    Stetson and Elon have met four times prior to this weekend, with each team winning twice. The last meeting came in 2006, with Elon grabbing a 4-3 victory.
•    Sunday’s match will be the second meeting between Duke and the Hatters, but the first since 1985. Duke owns a 1-0-0 lead in the series.
•    Ernie Yarborough is Stetson’s 14th head coach. He assumed his duties on Aug. 8 after the untimely death of former head coach T. Logan Fleck in July.
•    Yarborough, a central Florida native, won three national championships at Indiana as an assistant coach
•    Senior defender JJ Bostic was named to the preseason Atlantic Sun Conference team. Bostic was a second-team all-conference selection following his junior year.
