DeLand, Fla. - Junior third baseman Jill Semento (Umatilla, Fla.) hit a grand slam and drove in five runs on the night to lead the Stetson softball team to a 12-3 win over visiting Seminole State College of Florida in a 16-inning exhibition Friday evening at Patricia Wilson Field.  Junior outfielder Rachel Lowe (Okeechobee, Fla.) also homered for the Hatters while senior pitcher Amanda Lindsey (Byhalia, Miss.) struck out six in four shutout innings of one-hit softball.

Behind 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Semento's RBI sacrifice fly to center field brought in sophomore second baseman Chelsey Trotto (Lantana, Fla.) with the tying run; the next batter, senior designated player Katie Lawrence (Hilliard, Fla.) gave Stetson the lead for good with an RBI double to right center field.  That hit plated freshman catcher Jordan Cleghorn (Ball Ground, Ga.), who had herself doubled earlier in the inning.

Lowe's solo shot to left field leading off the next inning gave the Hatters some cushion; after the Raiders got one run back in the fifth, Semento's two-out grand slam in the bottom of the sixth made it a 7-2 ballgame.  Stetson added five more insurance runs over the course of the extra-long game and went on to win 12-3.

The four Hatter pitchers recorded a total of 15 strikeouts in 16 innings with Lindsey and Lawrence blanking SSCF on just two hits over the last eight frames.  Senior Nicole Peltz (Navarre, Fla.) and freshman Courtney Gunby (Bishop, Ga.) split the first eight innings and allowed three runs on six hits.  One run was unearned.

Stetson will welcome former players back to campus for its annual Alumnae Game at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 14 before concluding the fall season with a 16-inning exhibition against Florida State College of Jacksonville at 1 p.m. the following afternoon.
