DeLand, Fla. - Hatters head soccer coach T. Logan Fleck has announced that Joakim Helland has transferred from St. John's University (Big East Conference) to Stetson. He is a 6'2", 180lb forward from Bergen, Norway.
As a freshman Helland played for the Red Storm team that made it all the way to the NCAA semifinals. He played in seven games as a freshman picking up two shots and scoring one goal.
In 2009-10 he sat out as a redshirt while recovering from knee surgery. Helland will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after arriving at Stetson.
"We are very much looking forward to Joakim coming and making an immediate impact on our team at the forward position", said Fleck. "His experience and his combining with fellow Norwegian [and current Hatter] Fredrik Brustad will add tremendous punch to our lineup."
