Fort Myers, Fla. - Redshirt freshman Aaron Graham (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) led the Hatters with 17 points and Ridge Graham (Stuart, Fla.) tallied his 6th double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, yet Stetson could not rally and fell 64-60 to Florida Gulf Coast Monday night in Fort Myers. The loss dropped the Hatters to 7-22 overall and 5-13 in A-Sun play, while the Eagles improved to 8-19 and 4-12 in conference games. Stetson has now lost four in a row and 11 of its last 12 games.
Although Stetson led 34-29 at the break it didn't take long for FGCU to regain the lead that it held for most of the first half. A pair of 3-pointers early in the period gave the Eagles a lead it would hold until 6:40 remained. A 3-pointer by Joel Naburgs (Victoria, Australia) put the Hatters up by a point at 54-53 and then a jumper by Aaron Graham with 1:50 on the clock tied the score at 59-59. The Eagles, however scored five of the game's final six points to secure a win.
As a team Stetson shot 38.6% (22-for-57) from the field and 64.3% (9-of-14) from the free throw line. The Hatters outrebounded the Eagles 44-39, yet committed 15 turnovers to just four for FGCU. The Eagles scored 21 points off those miscues.
Ridge Graham was 4-for-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the line. Aaron Graham hit 6-of-12 from the field including an impressive 5-for-8 effort from long range. Freshman Steve Forbes (Clermont, Fla.) also hit double figures with 13 points.
