DeLand, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference recognized Stetson senior Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) and sophomore Lindsey Cable (Gainesville, Fla.) as its Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, on Wednesday. Both enjoyed undefeated runs on a personal and team level and led their Hatter squads to key victories both in and out of conference play.

Levanovich won both his singles matches at the top of the lineup and both his doubles matches with freshman Chester Espie (Auckland, New Zealand) to vault the Hatters to home wins over A-Sun foe Kennesaw State (6-1 on Saturday) and currently 75th-ranked Penn (4-3 on Monday). He swept KSU's Alex Toliver 7-5, 6-0 and followed that up with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Penn's Ivan Turudic, the nation's 83rd-ranked player. His efforts allowed Stetson to regain its traditional place in the ITA national rankings, debuting at #70, for the first time in two years.

This is the third career A-Sun Player of the Week award for Levanovich but his first since his freshman season in 2009. He is a three-time Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team honoree and a 2010 First Team All-Conference selection. Levanovich is 6-1 in singles this spring, playing all his matches on Court 1, with a 5-2 record in doubles.

Cable earned the match-clinching points in both Stetson's wins this week at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, 4-3 over Kennesaw State on Saturday and 5-2 over Big Ten opponent Michigan State on Tuesday. She defeated Therese Lagerkvist of KSU 6-1, 6-3 in Saturday's victory to put the fourth point on the scoreboard for Stetson, then knocked off Michigan State's Julianne Gruber 6-3, 6-4 to seal Tuesday's win over the Spartans. Both those victories came on Court 5 for the Hatters.

In doubles, Cable partnered with senior Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) to win twice over the Owls and Spartans as well. Cable was a Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and A-Sun All-Freshman Team pick as a rookie in 2011. For her sophomore season she is 5-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles.

Stetson men's tennis is in action Wednesday afternoon at home against #37 Memphis while the Hatter women next face Xavier at 11:00 am Thursday in Boca Raton, Fla.
