DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and remained unbeaten in the month of March, shutting out visiting A-Sun rival Mercer 7-0 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Hatters improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in A-Sun play while the Bears dropped to 2-6, 0-2 A-Sun.

The Hatters then won all seven singles matches in straight sets, including a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win for Miller over Cooper on Court 6 and identical 6-1, 6-0 wins for Cable and junior Clarke Tatje (Eustis, Fla.) at the #5 and #3 positions, respectively. Bukajeva beat Bertani 6-1, 6-2 on Court 4 and Gunning beat Jennifer Lada 6-3, 6-2 on Court 2 as Stetson approached a clean shutout win. Junior Sara Lazarevic (Calgary, Alta.) achieved that goal by fending off Lucie Payrat 7-6, 7-5 on Court 1.
"I'm really proud of our team today; they came out aggressively in doubles and won that point very quickly," Stetson Associate Head Tennis Coach Chastity Bradley said. "Our singles play continues to get better every match. All our ladies looked very impressive out there today. Any time we can win a conference match 7-0 it will give our team tons of confidence moving forward."
The Hatters are next in action at 2:30 pm Monday when they host Big East foe Cincinnati at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Live Scoring will be available at GoHatters.com.
