DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson women's tennis team (8-1) continued its impressive string of play in the month of March, blanking visiting Big East foe Cincinnati (4-11) 7-0 Monday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The win was the sixth in a row for the Hatters and their third consecutive 7-0 shutout. Stetson had four double winners on the day.

Sophomore Lindsey Cable (Gainesville, Fla.) and senior Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) got Stetson off to a great start in doubles with an 8-1 win on Court 3 over Carly Wilson and former Hatter Sierra Sullivan. The doubles point landed on Stetson's side of the scoreboard a few minutes later when sophomore Diana Bukajeva (Riga, Latvia) and junior Jen Miller (Tampa, Fla.) finished off Cincinnati's Kristina Georgieva and Safiyya Ismail 8-4 on Court 2.

The Hatters dominated singles play from start to finish, recording straight-set victories on all six courts to preserve the shutout. Miller closed out Wilson 6-0, 6-1 on Court 6 with Gunning also recording a perfect set in her 6-0, 6-4 win on Court 2 over Georgieva. Bukajeva dropped Sullivan (a 2011 A-Sun All-Freshman Team pick in her lone season at Stetson) 6-1, 6-2 on Court 4 with junior Clarke Tatje (Eustis, Fla.) providing the clinching point on Court 3, defeating Ashleigh Witte 6-2, 6-4.

Other singles winners for Stetson against the Bearcats were Cable (6-1, 6-3 on Court 5 against Ismail) and junior Sara Lazarevic (Calgary, Alta.), who defeated Jasmine Lee 6-4, 6-2 at the top of the lineup. Cable remained undefeated (8-0) in singles this spring.

"I was so pleased with our level of play today; a 7-0 victory was a great way to start off the week," said Stetson Associate Head Coach Chastity Bradley. "The women worked extremely hard all day with tremendous focus. They never let their opponents get back in the matches."

Up next for Stetson will be a road trip to A-Sun rivals ETSU and USC Upstate this weekend. The Hatters battle the Lady Bucs at 1:30 pm Friday in Johnson City, Tenn. with a 2:00 pm Saturday match on tap against the Spartans in Spartanburg, S.C.
