MACON, Ga. - Senior
Kai Eckenrode (Springfield, Va.) was named to Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Player
of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office.
The Stetson senior scored the first hat trick of his career,
leading the Hatters to a 3-2 victory over North Florida on Friday evening. It marks the second Player of the Week honor
for Eckenrode from the A-Sun. Last
season he earned the accolades for three goals in two games.
Eckenrode opened up the scoring in Stetson's must-win game
against UNF with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute of play. His second score, in the 32nd minute,
tied the game at 2-2 after the Ospreys gained the lead four minutes earlier.
The forward's third goal of the contest was the only score
of the second half, and proved to be the game-winner as Stetson went on to win
3-2 and earn three points in league play.
Eckenrode now leads the Hatters with five goals on the season.
Stetson will next play at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday at
7:00 pm. The team will finish regular
season play at Georgia State on Sunday, November 4 at 1:00 pm.
