The Stetson University men’s golf team will get back into the swing of competition this weekend when the Hatters compete in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.
The event, which is being hosted by George Mason University at the El Campeon Course and Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla., will open with 36 holes of play on Saturday. The final 18 holes of competition will be played on Sunday.
The Hatters will face a large, 18-team, field of competition in the tournament, and should own an advantage over most of the field. Stetson played the par 72, 7,230-yard El Campeon course during the fall schedule. Appalachian State is the only other team in the field that competed in the fall event.
Stetson freshman Dustin Dingus posted a fourth place finish at the fall tournament, completing play with a five-over par score of 221. It was his best finish of three top 10s so far this year.
Other teams in the field this weekend include Florida Atlantic, Hartford, Indiana, Georgia State, Marquette, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, Old Dominion, Purdue, Rutgers, Towson, Connecticut, Virginia Tech and Western Illinois.
Fans can follow the scoring action during the tournament live on Gamebook, which offers live scoring on their free iPhone/iPad app. The program allows the players to post their scores live as play progresses.
