MACON, Ga. – For the second time this season, both a member of the Stetson men’s tennis team and the Stetson women’s tennis team earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors on Wednesday, as announced by the league.
Freshman Simon Julin earned the accolades for the second straight week, sharing the award with North Florida’s Julien Belair. The Hatter freshman improved to 13-0 in singles play this season with a trio of victories at the number two and number three positions this week. Julin helped lead the Stetson men to wins over Green Bay, Kennesaw State and Mercer.
Junior Diana Bukajeva received her second Player of the Week nod of the season, and the third of her career. She won a pair of singles matches at the number three position, and won both of her doubles matches, teaming with senior Jen Miller. Bukajeva helped lead Stetson to wins over Kennesaw State and Mercer, as the Hatters improved to 4-0 in A-Sun play.
Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams host ETSU and USC Upstate this weekend in hopes of remaining undefeated in conference play. The Bucs are in town on Thursday, while the Spartans travel down to DeLand on Saturday.
