Pawley’s Island, SC – The Stetson University men’s golf team endured some struggles on Monday in the second day of the GolfWeek Program Challenge.

The Hatters entered play Monday off a respectable opening round score of 298 on Sunday, but saw that score grow by 11 shots in the second round. Stetson’s 21-over par effort on the day left the Hatters in 12th place overall in a very strong field at the True Blue Course.

James Madison leads the even with a total score of 12 under par. The Dukes posted a four-under par score of 284 on Monday after and eight-under 280 on Sunday. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) charged to within one shot of the lead on Monday with a round of 280.

Akron (-5), Jacksonville State (-2) and Old Dominion (-1) round out the top five, all under par for the event.

A total of 16 players in the field have posted two-day scores under par. That group is led by J.T. Poston of Western Carolina and Peter Webb of Valparaiso, who enter the final round of play tied atop the leaderboard at nine-under par.

Stetson freshman Dirk Kuehler leads the Hatters after two rounds of play. Kuehler opened with a one-over par round of 73 on Sunday and came back with a three-over 75 today. His four-over score of 148 is tied for 32nd in the field.

Sophomore Dustin Dingus is next for Stetson, following an opening round 74 with a 78 on Monday. He is tied for 49th at eight over par 152.
