TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sophomores Cahit Kapukiran and Laurynas Antropikas won singles matches on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals as the Stetson men's tennis team played at the Bedford Cup.

Only eight players remain in the singles tournament that started with 59 players, and two of them are from Stetson.  Kapukiran defeated Will Neuner of Florida Atlantic 6-3, 6-2 and will take on Norbert Nemcsek of North Florida on Saturday.

Antropikas, meanwhile, faced off with teammate sophomore Simon Julin in the round of 16.  After Julin won the first set on a tie breaker, Antropikas won the next two, 6-4 and 6-1 to advance to take on Michael Rinaldi of Florida State.

Junior Nathan Debut, the fourth member of the Stetson squad playing the round of 16, lost to Nemcsek in three sets on Friday.

Debut had more success on doubles Friday, teaming with senior Hans Adrian Riseng to win a pair of matches to reach the semifinals of the Bedford Cup.  The duo defeated Reid/Echeverry of FGCU 8-1 and then topped Garcia/Haffey of Florida State 8-6 on Friday.  Debut and Riseng will take on Nemcsek/Findel-Hawkins of UNF on Saturday.

Junior Chester Espie, Riseng, and sophomore Egor Panyushkin all won their consolation singles matches on Friday.
