MACON, Ga. – Senior Andreas Schnabl was named Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Stetson’s 1-0 victory over Mercer on Sunday.

Schnabl tied a career high with eight saves while recording his third shutout of the season. His 15 career shutouts are a program record and are tied for the seventh most in A-Sun history. His 206 career saves are second most among active goalkeepers in the conference.

This marks Schnabl’s second ever weekly honor from the league. He also earned the accolades on Oct. 10, 2011 after the Hatters topped Mercer by a score of 1-0. It is the first conference honor for Stetson this season.

With the victory on Sunday the Hatters (2-8-3, 1-3-1) kept themselves in the hunt for a spot in the A-Sun Tournament. Stetson now has four points in conference play, putting the Hatters in a three-way tie for the fifth spot in the tournament with just three matches left on the schedule.

Stetson will head back onto the pitch next Saturday, playing host to league-leading Florida Gulf Coast on at 7:30 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center.
