The Stetson men’s tennis team will take the short drive up I-95 to Palm Coast this weekend, where they will compete in the ITF Future USA-F4 Tournament. The three-day event features some of the most talented players from the international amateur and professional levels.

“Anytime you have the chance to participate in a Professional ITF Future Tournament it is a plus,” said Stetson associate head coach Christophe Noblet. “The players will compete against some of the best amateur, collegiate and professional players from many different countries.”

Last season, the Hatter men competed in the ITF Southeast Regionals during the fall, but this will be the first time this decade that the team will take part in an International Tennis Federation tournament during the spring schedule. Another unique aspect to this weekend’s competition is the playing surface as the Hatters will compete on clay.
“Playing on clay court will also offer an additional physical challenge, but I am confident that our players are prepared for it,” Noblet said.

Besides the annual Stetson Alumni match (Jan. 18), this will be the first time the squad will play since dropping its first contest of the season, 4-0 against Georgia Tech, Jan. 11.

“It is important to keep competing every week in order to prepare for the upcoming challenging matches,” Noblet added. “We hope to see our players implementing the few adjustments we have made after the Georgia Tech match.”

Following the ITF tournament, it’s back to match play for the Hatters as they take on Georgia Southern, Feb. 2 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

Stetson will compete in singles matches at the Palm Coast Tennis Center from Jan. 24-26. Tournament match-ups, information and results can be found by going to the official ITF event page, here.
