Winners of four straight games overall and nine straight games at home, the Stetson University women's basketball team will host UNF at 7 p.m. Thursday night at the Edmunds Center.
The Hatters (12-5, 4-1 A-Sun) are coming off back-to-back road victories at Mercer and Kennesaw State last weekend. The offense continued to sizzle with an 18-0 run to start the game and a 98-point outburst against the Owls on Saturday. The Hatters are averaging 79.1 points per game, tops in the Atlantic Sun and the 32nd highest mark in the NCAA.
One Hatter who saw increased playing time last weekend was freshman Stacia Allen, who scored six points at Mercer and a season-high eight points at Kennesaw State. Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said Allen has been playing with more confidence of late.
"Stacia is a smart player," Bria said. "She is obviously a great shooter, but she needed to get much more active defensively for us, and she has. I am really proud of her. We certainly need her. Every day in practice she just keeps getting better and better, so she has seen more minutes."
Stetson will be looking to extend its nine-game home court winning streak. which includes a perfect 7-0 mark this season. Overall the Hatters have won 25 of their last 26 and 37 of their last 39 games played at the Edmunds Center.
UNF (5-11, 1-4) is coming off a 78-66 victory over Lipscomb on Saturday. The all-time series between the Hatters and Ospreys is even at eight wins apiece.
Thursday's game will be Greek Night at the Edmunds Center. The organization that brings out the most fans will win a catered meal courtesy of Jersey Mike’s and will compete in a special half time contest. Stetson will also commemorate last year's NCAA Regional appearance with a banner raising ceremony prior to the game.
Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased online at GoHatters.com/tix or at the Edmunds Center box office. Stetson students, faculty, and staff are free with a valid ID.
