Loesch’s contract expires at the end of February and he will remain as head coach while a national search is being conducted for the Hatters’ new head coach.
“I am proud of the strides the volleyball program has made over the last three years under Tim’s leadership,” Altier said. “The fact that the program had its first winning season this past fall since 2002 is a testament to his abilities.
“He was instrumental in the launch of our sand volleyball program two years ago and has provided that program with a solid foundation for the future.”
Loesch has served as the head coach for the Hatters’ indoor volleyball team for three seasons and for the outdoor sand volleyball squad for two seasons. A native of Charlotte, NC, Loesch compiled a record of 31-65 with the indoor team over three years, including an 18-16 mark this past fall, as well as a 22-19 mark in two seasons with the sand volleyball program.
“I appreciate President Wendy Libby and Athletic Director Jeff Altier giving me the opportunity to rebuild the indoor volleyball team and to start a sand volleyball program from scratch,” Loesch said. “I am very proud of the progress made with both teams, from our record on the court to our GPA in the classroom.
“I especially want to thank each of my players for their determined efforts at improving Stetson volleyball and wish them the best in the future.”
The Stetson sand volleyball team will open its third season of competition by hosting the Stetson Spring Break Duals on March 7-8.
