The Stetson men’s tennis team will compete in its first road match in more than a month when it heads to Boca Raton to take on Florida Atlantic this Friday, Feb. 14.
The Hatters (1-1) will compete against an Owls squad that is in the midst of a two-match stretch versus Atlantic Sun opponents. FAU dropped its most recent contest last Sunday vs. FGCU, to even its record at 4-4.
“FAU is a very good team, so we need to be ready for a tough challenge,” explained Stetson associate head coach Christophe Noblet. “I know the players are always looking forward to the next match, and cannot wait to step on the court Friday.”
Stetson is coming off of a 7-0 sweep of Georgia Southern in its home opener back on Feb. 2. The Hatters claimed two of three in doubles play and the win was clinched as sophomore Cahit Kapukiran earned a 6-4, 6-3 triumph in number two singles.
“The home opener against Georgia Southern was a good win for the team, but it is now behind us,” Noblet said. “Everybody understands that we need to improve day in and day out in order to prepare for the upcoming matches, as the competition will only get tougher.”
The match between the Hatters and Owls is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Boca Raton.
