MACON, Ga. – The efforts of Stetson sophomore Caili Guilday have not gone unnoticed this season. The Hatters’ goalkeeper was named Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Wagner and Marist, as announced by the league on Monday.
This marks the first weekly honor from the conference for Stetson, but it is the third such accolades for Guilday in her short career. The sophomore was named Defensive Player of the Week in the A-Sun twice last season as a freshman.
Guilday started the week with an 11 save performance as Stetson narrowly lost to visiting Wagner 11-10 on Monday. The sophomore then made 14 stops on the road at Marist, missing her season high by two (16 vs. Oregon). Guilday also totaled a team best 15 ground balls during the two games to help that Stetson defense.
For the season she has accumulated 119 saves, while allowing 155 goals for a goals-against average of 15.93 and a save percentage of .434. Guilday and the Hatters continue their non-conference slate on Wednesday, hosting no. 4 Florida at 7 p.m.
