After completing a perfect 6-0 week including a three-game Atlantic Sun series sweep at ETSU this past weekend, the Stetson softball team swept the league's weekly honors, it was announced on Monday.  Junior Courtney Brandt (Dade City, Fla.) was selected as the A-Sun Player of the Week and senior Meredith Owen (Jackson, Miss.) was tabbed as the league's Pitcher of the Week.

Brandt produced an unbelievable week at the plate, batting .500 with five home runs and 14 RBI.  She hit four home runs in the series against ETSU, all coming with runners on base, including a first-inning grand slam in Stetson's 12-3 win Saturday afternoon.  She also hit a two-run home run in game two of the series before adding a pair of home runs (two-run, three-run) in the series finale.  She had a career-high five RBI in game one of the series and then equaled that mark in game three.

Earlier in the week, Brandt had a pair of hits and an RBI in Stetson's sweep over Marist on Tuesday.  Then in the Hatters' dramatic come-from-behind win vs. Buffalo on Wednesday, Brandt contributed to a five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run.

Brandt hit safely in all six games last week and extended her hitting streak to nine.  She became the sixth player in school history to hit 20 home runs in a career.  She enters this week on a four-game home run streak.

Backed by a ton of run support, Owen was strong in circle for the Hatters as well.  The right-handed hurler went 4-0 with a 0.36 ERA, allowing just one earned run in 19.1 innings.  She picked up wins in relief in Stetson's midweek games against Marist and Buffalo, throwing three perfect innings against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Over the weekend at ETSU, Owen started all three games, and went the distance in games two and three to pick up her 11th and 12th wins of the year.  She fired a two-hit shutout on Sunday, her third shutout of the season, pitching out of a bases-load, one-out situation in the bottom of the third inning.

For the week Owen fanned 20 batters and opponents batted just .147 against her.  It was her fifth career Pitcher of the Week honor, and second this season.

Stetson will look to extend its six-game winning streak at 6 p.m. Wednesday night as the Hatters host Bethune-Cookman.
