DeLAND—Stetson’s Andrew Rouse enjoyed a successful weekend at the U.S Rowing Club National Championships, earning a silver medal in one event while reaching the finals in two others. The championships took place July 16-20 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Rowing for the All-American Rowing Camp, Rouse medaled in Open Single Dash, and reached the finals in the Senior Lightweight Single and the Intermediate Lightweight Single.

Rouse’s first final came on Friday, when he finished sixth in the Intermediate Lightweight Single with a time of 8:23.54.

On Saturday, Rouse raced in a pair of finals. He finished second in the Open Single Dash, a 500 meter race, with a time of 2:02.7, missing out on the national championship by less than a second. He also finished 5th in the Senior Lightweight Single with a time of 8:17.87.

“Andrew is a hard worker and a great young athlete and I am so happy to see him enjoying his summer rowing,” said Stetson rowing head coach Mark Wilson. “It is so great to see young athletes dive into racing and gaining so much experience in the summer. His hard work from the Stetson season is transferring very well to the next level.”

During his freshman season, Rouse captured the FIRA championship in the men’s single.
