VARSITY GOLF AT STETSON UNIVERSITY
The Stetson golf schedule is played during an 11 week fall season, followed by the traditional NCAA spring season of 13 weeks. Play includes 5-6 tournaments in each season and ends with the annual Atlantic Sun Conference tournament in mid April. The conference winner gains a bid to the NCAA South-east regional tournament. Collegiate tournament competition is usually a 54 or 36 hole tournament played over two or three days. Over the years we have played well enough to be winners in a number of these events, and finish in the top 10 in 95% of these tournaments. Stetson is proud to claim a number of players who have earned Atlantic Sun Conference honors, Academic All-American, as well as earning PGA status.
The 10-man squad size is made up by the number of returning and recruited players who have established themselves as quality Division I golfers. A series of qualifying tournaments begin at the start of the fall season for team ranking, and who will represent the school in the competitive tournaments. The Stetson University athletic department offers partial golf grants-in-aid to team members.
PRACTICE AND DEVELOPMENT:
The golf team uses Victoria Hill Golf Club, a par 72, 6954 yard course, and Southridge Golf Club, a par 72, 6320 yard course, as practice facilities. Team members can play these courses seven days a week. Each course is located only a short drive from the Stetson campus. We also host an intercollegiate tournament on both of these courses. In addition to Victoria Hill and Southridge, players have the opportunity to practice at other championship-type courses in the Central Florida area.
