Fueled by wins at the no. 1, no. 3, and no. 5 positions, Stetson defeated Georgia State 3-2 Sunday and completed a weekend sweep at the Ron Jon Beach N Boards Fest in Cocoa Beach.
The Hatters (6-0) won all four matches by the same 3-2 count to remain undefeated on the season.
"There was some great competition this weekend and I am so proud of our team for fighting hard and finding a way to win," interim head coach Meghan Bryant said. "We had to not only fight great teams, but the ultimate elements in sand volleyball. The strength and will to win that this team has was proven over this weekend, and it's just another step forward towards our bigger goal of being A-Sun champions. I couldn't be prouder."
Both the four and five seeds battled through tough three-set matches to start the contest, and Tiffany Creamer and Kristin Lind pulled out a 2-1 victory at the number five spot to give Stetson its first point.
At the three seed, Savannah Byl and Catherine Coston remained undefeated on the season with a 21-14, 21-19 triumph.
Stetson clinched the match when the top-seeded pairing of Kaley Melville and Kaylee Anderson posted a 21-18, 21-13 victory.
The Hatters will start Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday as they host Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast at the Stetson sand volleyball courts.
