The Stetson women's tennis team (6-4, 1-0) recorded its second consecutive sweep, defeating Northern Kentucky (0-7, 0-1) by a score of 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

"It's nice to get our first conference match of the season under our belt," Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote said. "Northern Kentucky has a nice nucleus of players to build on."

Stetson began the match by sweeping the doubles matches and taking a 1-0 lead. Junior Diana Bukajeva and senior Jen Miller were victorious at number two doubles, defeating Claire Spradlin and Holly Robinson by a score of 8-1.

Junior Lindsey Cable and freshman Eveline Lepinay then defeated Jamie Diaz and Kristina Abramovich by a score of 8-1 to give Stetson the early lead.  Senior Sara Lazarevic and freshman Andrea Crespo concluded the doubles portion of the match with an 8-2 victory at the number one position.

In singles, the Hatters did not drop a set en route to the sweep. In fact, Stetson lost just eight games overall in singles play.  At number six, Lepinay defeated Diaz 6-0, 6-0, and her doubles partner, Cable, followed that with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own, defeating Robinson at number five. Miller followed suit by defeating Abramovich 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the match for the Hatters.

At number one singles, Crespo defeated Marta Romeo 6-0, 6-2, and at number three singles, Bukajeva defeated Shana Kleynen 6-2, 6-1. The final match of the day saw Lazarevic defeat Spradlin 6-1, 6-2 to give Stetson the clean sweep, 7-0.

Stetson continues conference play this Saturday with Lipscomb coming to town. The Hatters and the Bisons are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
