Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. – The Stetson men’s golf team slipped into 15th place with a final round score of 308 in Mission Inn Spectacular.
Indiana University captured the team title in the 18-team event. The Hoosiers finished the tournament with a five-over par score of 869, two shots better than Purdue and Virginia Tech.
Jonathan Gray of Georgia State, which finished fourth, took home top individual honors with an eight-under par score of 208. Indiana’s Brant Peaper finished five shots back in second place.
The Hatters were led by a pair of freshmen. Both Dustin Dingus and Michael Primavera tied for 54th in the tournament with total scores of 16-over par 232. Another freshman, Andrew Peterson, tied for 67th three shots behind his teammates.
Sophomore Matt Taylor tied for 88th with a score of 240 and freshman Jose Rosales Cruz tied for 92nd with a score of 241.
The Hatters will be back in action in two weeks at the FAU Spring Break Invitational in Lake Worth. The tournament is scheduled to start on March 29.
