DETROIT, Mich. – The Stetson women’s soccer team gave up three goals in the second half, falling on the road at Detroit by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Hatters (2-5-1) were able to manifest more scoring chances than the Titans (4-4-1) in the first half, holding a shot advantage of 6-4 through the first 45 minutes. It was Detroit, however, that got on the board in the first, scoring in the eighth minute as Abby McCollum put away a cross from Alyssa Lotito.

Playing only three subs in the match, Stetson gave up three scores in the second half. Detroit’s Alyssa Riley found the back of the net twice in the final 35 minutes of action to help lead the Titans to the victory.

In the 56th minute Riley scored her first goal from just inside the box off of an assist by Sara Zawacki. Zawacki later assisted on Heather Brown’s goal in the 74th minute to extend the Detroit lead to 3-0. The fourth Titan goal came with less than five minutes remaining when Riley scored off of a Kaitlynn Quarrell.

Stetson finished the match with 11 total shots, while Detroit totaled 12. Each team recorded three corner kicks. Senior Victoria Troccoli stopped two Titan shots in the contest, while Martha Dunbar and Laura Taylor combined for three saves in the win.

The Hatters, after five straight road games, will finally return home on Friday to open Atlantic Sun Conference play. Stetson hosts North Florida at the Athletic Training Center at 7:00 p.m.
