Stetson completed a perfect 5-0 weekend at the Stetson Classic with a 5-1 victory over Valparaiso in the tournament's championship game Sunday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

The Hatters (13-6) scored all five runs in the bottom of the third inning and held on the rest of the way to extend their win streak to seven.

Brittany Hawn and Chrissy Morello each had two hits in the game while Jordan Cleghorn drove in a pair of runs with a bases loaded single.

Meredith Owen was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after picking up her third win of the weekend on Sunday. She allowed just three hits and one run while striking out five.

Owen also hit a grand slam and drove in nine runs during the tournament.

"We had good pitching from Courtney (Brandt) and Meredith," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said about the weekend performance overall.  "We managed to score a few runs each ball game, some more than others, and we played very good defense.  We had a couple of errors yesterday but I would blame it on the condition of the infield after playing so many games on it.  We didn't hang our heads, we came right back and scored some more runs, and we finished it up."

Morello and Jessica Griffin joined Owen on the all-tournament team.  Morello went 8-for-15 (.533) on the weekend and scored six runs while Griffin batted .375 (6-for-16) with a home run and four RBI.

Winners of 12 of their last 13 games, the Hatters will host Colgate in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Notes: Sunday's game was the first this year for Stetson that featured a lead change ... The Hatters are hitting .400 with the bases loaded this season ... Chrissy Morello and Jessica Griffin have reached base safely in 18 straight games ... Morello also has a nine-game hitting streak ... FDU defeated Colgate 7-2 in the consolation game.

Alana Dyson, Mariel Schlaefer (Colgate)
Maire Shaughnessy, Madelaine Wilen (FDU)
Taylor Weissenhofer, Lindsey Norway (Valpo)
