Women's Tennis Topped by Buccaneers

The Stetson women’s tennis team (9-6, 4-1) was defeated by ETSU (8-4, 3-0) by a score of 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

In doubles, ETSU won two of the three matches to capture an early 1-0 lead. After the Bucs won the first doubles contest, senior Jen Miller and junior Diana Bukajeva defeated Antonia Kolovou and Larn McShane by a score of 8-4 to even things up at 1-1.

Junior Lindsey Cable and freshman Eveline Lepinay were then defeated by Sofia Espana and Giulia Andreazza by a score of 8-5, giving the Bucs the point.

In singles, ETSU won all six matches on the day. Freshman Andrea Crespo was the only Hatter to go to three sets, where she eventually lost to Kolovou by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6).

Freshman Alexandra Lyubimova played in the first match of her career on Thursday, but was unable to pick up a victory. She fell to Espana by a score of 6-2, 6-0 at the number six singles position.

Stetson returns to action on Saturday, when the Hatters take on USC Upstate. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
