Farrah Sullivan's solo home run in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as UCF snapped Stetson's 13-game win streak with 1-0 victory Wednesday night at Patricia Wilson Field.

A standing-room only crowd was treated to a brilliant pitcher's duel and defensive battle between two top 50 programs in the NCAA.  Mackenzie Audas tossed a three-hit shutout for the Knights (28-12), while Courtney Brandt and Meredith Owen combined on a four-hitter for the Hatters (28-6).

"I thought both teams played well, and the pitching from both teams was exceptional," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said.  "We had some opportunities.  We had runners at second and third with our three and four hitters up and we just didn't pull it out.  We had an opportunity at the end with a runner on and two long-ball batters at the plate.  We just didn't take advantage of our opportunities."

Chrissy Morello, Amanda Grimaldo, and Kayla Drury each singled for the Hatters, while Jessie TenBroeck walked twice and stole a base.

Brandt pitched the first 1.1 innings, allowing just one hit.  Owen (16-4) worked the final 5.1 innings, striking out five UCF batters.

Defensively Brittany Hawn assisted on five putouts from her third base position, while Drury snared a line drive at first base in the top of the seventh.

"Overall, I thought we played well; I thought they played well," Griffin said.  "It was just a good ball game."

Stetson will return to conference play this weekend as the Hatters visit Kennesaw State for a three-game series beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
