CHARLESTON, S.C. - Three Hatters won singles matches and three doubles teams earned victories as the Stetson women's tennis team continued play in the College of Charleston Invitational on Saturday.

"The team played very well today," Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote said. "This tournament is such a great event because of the quality of the competition and the number of matches that we get to play."

Senior Diana Bukajeva and sophomore Andrea Crespo both won their singles matches in the A1 bracket on Saturday.  Bukajeva defeated Kourtney Kowal of Coastal Carolina, while Crespo topped Libby Scott, also of Coastal, by a score of 7-5, 1-6, 10-7.

Bukajeva and freshman Isabella Fernandez won their first round doubles match over Moniz-Soares/Dummer of Davidson 8-4.  The duo then lost to Ebada/N'tcha of Samford, and will play Scott/Delay of Coastal Carolina for third place in the A1 doubles bracket on Sunday.

Senior Lindsey Cable defeated Nisha Crouser of Davidson 6-3, 6-3 and advanced to take on Jenny Falcone of College of Charleston for ninth place in the A2 bracket on Sunday.  Sophomore Eveline Lepinay, who lost on Saturday, will play for seventh place on Sunday.

Cable and Lepinay won their first round doubles match in the A2 bracket, topping Babyan/Kowal of Coastal Carolina by a score of 8-6.  After losing their next contest, Cable and Lepinay are scheduled to play for third place on Sunday.

Crespo and freshman Marta Gonzalez lost early in the A2 doubles bracket before winning against McAmis/Maddoz of College of Charleston.  The duo will play for seventh place on Sunday.

"We hope that the day won't be washed out tomorrow," Pilote added. "There are still some great matches to be played in this tournament."
