MIROMAR LAKES, Fla.—Sophomore Dustin Dingus fired a two round score of 143 to lead Stetson men’s golf to a fourth-place standing after the first day of the Cobra-Puma Invitational, Sunday at Miromar Lakes Country Club.

The Hatters have a two-round total of 588 (298-290) and are just five strokes behind second place Florida Atlantic (583) and two strokes in back of third place Bethune-Cookman (586). Co-host Florida Gulf Coast (568) owns a commanding lead with one round of play remaining in the 13-team field.

Seeking his second straight top ten finish, Dingus opened play by shooting even par 72 in the first round and finished the second round at one-over par 73. Florida Gulf Coast’s Edward Figueroa (135) is the tournament’s individual leader.

Playing near his hometown and in his first tournament of the year, Matt Taylor enjoyed a solid day on Sunday. The junior co-captain is tied for 29th after shooting 149 (75-74) over the first two rounds.

Freshman Eliott Azoulay is tied for 36th after shooting a balanced 150 (75-75), and fellow freshman Zach Stark is tied for 44th at 151. After shooting an 81 in the opening round, Stark rebounded nicely with a team-best 2-under par 70 in the afternoon.

Sophomore David Torres is tied for 50th at 153 (76-77).

Final round play begins Monday at 9 a.m.
