Stetson University men’s golf coach Larry Watson added one signee to his squad for the 2014-15 season during the early signing period.

Chase Levesque is a senior at Durant High School in Plant City, Fla., where he has lettered as a member of the golf team for four years, including serving as the team captain this year. At Durant he has twice been named Player of the Year and, in 2011, he was a first team All County selection by both the Tampa Tribune and Tampa Bay Times.

“I am very pleased to have Chase joining our team,” Watson said. “He is a very consistent player and he is willing to work hard, learn and help the team. That is about all any coach could ask of any player.”

At Durant, Levesque helped his team to a District title in 2010. He was an individual regional qualifier in 2011 and 2012 while helping his team to regionals in 2013.

Levesque chose to attend Stetson over Florida State, even though his brother, Tyler, is a student at FSU.

“When I visited, I absolutely loved the campus,” Levesque said. “It’s not too big and not too small. I like how the classes aren't too big and I will be able to study exactly what I want to. The chance to play for Coach Watson and learn from him is the icing on the cake. I am going to be able to grow as a person and as a student athlete at Stetson.”

In addition to his accomplishments on the golf team at Durant, Levesque is active in the Student Government Association and has twice been named to the Durant Athletic Academic team. He has also been actively involved with the school’s TV news show, serving as a producer and anchor winning a videography award.

Levesque will join a Stetson squad that loses just one senior from this years’ team.
