Braselton, Ga. - Stetson junior Sam Ryder (Longwood, Fla.) shot one under par 70 in the second round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golf Championships on Tuesday at the Chateau Elan Resort's Chateau Course to move into a tie for eighth place at -1 overall in the individual standings; he is five strokes off the lead heading into tomorrow's final round.  As a team, the Hatters are 26 over par and stand in 10th place through 36 holes.

Ryder made four birdies in a seven-hole stretch from 8-15 to get to -3 on the day before bogeys at 17 and 18 slowed his charge somewhat.  Still, he moved four spots up the leaderboard and is five strokes behind individual leader Jeff Karlsson of Kennesaw State with one round of golf left; the winner of the A-Sun championship receives an automatic berth to NCAA regional competition.

Senior Gabe Costa (Tequesta, Fla.) eagled the par-five ninth hole en route to a second straight round of one over par 72 that left hime tied for 16th place individually.  The going was rougher for the final three members of the Stetson contingent on Tuesday, however, as junior Micah Jacobsen (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) shot 78, junior Andrew Schiano (Orlando, Fla.) tallied an 80 and freshman Matt Lawrence (Naples, Fla.) slipped from a first round 73 to a second round 81.

Karlsson, the nation's 48th-ranked golfer, holds a one-shot lead over Belmont's Daniel Smith and a two-stroke lead over Campbell's Matt Moot heading into Wednesday's final round.  Ryder is in a three-way tie for eighth with Mercer's Hans Reimers and 90th-ranked Kevin Phelan of North Florida.

The A-Sun's two Top 50 teams are at the top of the leaderboard as #45 Kennesaw State (-5) enjoys a five-stroke lead over #47 North Florida and Campbell.  FGCU (+2) and Belmont (+8) sit fourth and fifth, respectively, with defending champion ETSU (+11), USC Upstate (+11), Mercer (+15), Jacksonville (+16), Stetson (+26) and Lipscomb (+33) rounding out the field.

The Hatters will go off in pairs with golfers from Lipscomb starting at 8 a.m. in the final round.  Live Scoring is available at http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/team/static/team_players_2203.html
