DeLand, Fla. - Stetson junior Sam Ryder (Longwood, Fla.) was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference Second Team for men's golf, the league office announced Wednesday when voting was released.  This is the second consecutive Second Team honor for Ryder, who tied for sixth at the A-Sun Championships last month.

Ryder played to a 72.4 stroke average in 30 rounds for the Hatters in 2010-11, winning the Mission Inn Spring Fling Intercollegiate and leading Stetson to the team title in the process.  The Longwood native also recorded four total top five and six total top 10 finishes in 10 events and shot even par or better 18 times in 30 rounds.  In the second round of the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on March 7, Ryder set a Stetson men's golf program record by shooting a seven under par 65.

Ryder recorded three top three finishes in the fall portion of the season and concluded the spring by shooting 71-70-71 (-1) to tie for sixth at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in Braselton, Ga. April 18-20.  He is one of six lettermen slated to return in 2011-12 for the Hatters.
