Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - The second round of the Mission Inn Fall Intercollegiate is in the books with junior Sam Ryder (Longwood, Fla.) tied for the lead at five under par after his two under 70 today.  The Stetson men's golf team improved its first round performance by one stroke, yet slipped to fifth place; the Hatters are 23 over par, 12 strokes off the team lead going into Sunday's final round.

Ryder went low for the second day in a row as he leads the field with 11 birdies in 36 holes.  The other four Hatters turned in remarkably similar scorecards as sophomore Micah Jacobsen (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and freshman Ed Waller (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) shot 76 while senior Gabe Costa (Tequesta, Fla.) and junior Andrew Schiano (Orlando, Fla.) each turned in five over par 77.  Jacobsen leads the field in pars with 28.  Sophomore Adam Kipi (Oviedo, Fla.), competing as an individual, followed up his first round 80 with an 82 today.

Chris Hawley of Johnson & Wales turned in the round of the day with a five under par 67 to tie Ryder at -5 overall, three strokes ahead of third place Evan Beirne (St. John's).  That performance helped JWU go even par on the day and take control of first place in the team standings at 11 over par overall.  Host St. John's is one stroke behind the Wildcats with Florida Atlantic (+17) and Western Kentucky (+21) also ahead of the +23 Hatters.  Bethune-Cookman (+34), Ohio (+37), USF (+37), Embry-Riddle (+47), Boston College (+49), Savannah State (+49) and Florida A&M (+91) round out the field.

The Mission Inn Fall Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow with the final round at Mission Inn Resort's Las Colinas Course.
