Gadsden, Ala. - The Stetson men's golf team completed play at the Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 11th place out of 14 teams. Junior Micah Jacobsen (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) was the top finisher for the Hatters in a tie for 18th place at four over par.
Jacobsen and junior Andrew Schiano (Orlando, Fla.) each shot 76 in the final round while freshman Matt Lawrence (Naples, Fla.) carded a 77 and junior Sam Ryder (Longwood, Fla.) slipped to a 79. Senior Michael Stewart (New Smyrna Beach, Fla.) finished with an 83.
Stetson found the going tough in the final round, shooting 22 over par 308 as a team and coming in at 36 over par for the 54-hole event. Jacksonville State, the host team, won the event at even par, seven strokes ahead of Eastern Kentucky. Nicholls took third at nine over par with Austin Peay (+15), Belmont (+17), Armstrong Atlantic (+17), Columbus State (+24), High Point (+25), Samford (+31), Utah Valley (+33), Tennessee Tech (+34), the Hatters (+34), Morehead State (+43) and Tennessee-Martin (+52) completing the field.
Tom Robson (JSU), Kristjan Einarsson (Nicholls) and Seth Reeves (Georgia Tech individual) tied for the individual title at three under par, seven strokes ahead of Jacobsen.
The Hatters wrap up the regular season April 11-12 at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
