The Stetson men’s tennis team will welcome in Georgia State, Friday, Feb. 28th in what will be its first of four home matches during the coming week and six total matches during its current home stand.

The Hatters will square off against the Bulldogs, 2:30 p.m. Friday, at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center and then host Niagara, South Alabama, and Presbyterian the following Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

“Everybody is excited to play and compete more, especially with the majority of our matches in March being held at home,” Stetson associate head coach Christophe Noblet said. “Our primary focus needs to be on doubles. Our start and intensity was better last weekend against Northwood, so I am looking forward to seeing that standard continue in each of the upcoming matches.”

Stetson stands at 2-2 on the year, having taken match-ups with Georgia Tech and Northwood and dropping meetings with Georgia Tech and Florida Atlantic. The Bulldogs come to DeLand from the Sun Belt Conference and carry a 5-7 record into the weekend, having defeated A-Sun opponents USC Upstate and ETSU earlier in the season. Their most recent match took place this past weekend, a 6-1 loss at the hands of No. 59 Nebraska. GSU has spent four weeks as a ranked squad, with their highest ranking coming at No. 62.

“The core of the season is now around the corner,” Noblet explained. “With four matches in a week, the players will be tested physically, so the recovery factor is an important one.”

The Hatters will have the rest of the weekend off to recover before hosting Niagara, 11 a.m., Monday, March 3, followed by a Wednesday, March 5th match-up with South Alabama at 2 p.m. Stetson’s stretch of four matches in seven days concludes with a Friday, March 5 meeting between SU and Presbyterian at 9 a.m. The Stetson squad will finish out the home stand, hosting Siena and Appalachian State the following week.

Live Results will be available for all home matches. Fans can also follow @StetsonTennis on Twitter and sign up for Hat-Alerts for match updates.
