DELAND, Fla. – The Stetson University men’s tennis team has announced the signing of incoming freshman Loic Blanco for the 2015 season. Blanco hails from Demye, France and was ranked as high as 17th in his home country during the 2014 season.

Blanco has had a decorated amateur career, finishing fifth overall in France’s High School Championship this past season, and was a department junior winner in 2013.

“Loic is a great fit for our team as his credentials, both athletically and academically are excellent,” said associate head tennis coach Christophe Noblet. “He is eager to compete and he comes from a family with a great tradition of athletic talents.”

Blanco’s household is no stranger to athletic accolades as his great-grandfather was a professional soccer player for Real Madrid and his father was a well renowned skier. The soon to be freshman had a stellar final season as a high school player, defeating six ranked opponents. He will join fellow countryman Nathan Debut (Toulon, France), who will be a senior on the Hatters’ squad next season.
